We investigate the geology and geophysics of solid bodies\u2014including the Moon, Mars and asteroids\u2014and connect this knowledge with exploration and resource utilization.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">From planetary science to technology and society<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Planetary surfaces preserve clues to the formation and evolution of worlds. We combine spacecraft images and observations with experiments using analogue materials and numerical modelling. We also develop instruments and analytical methods relevant to subsurface exploration and resource assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Education across science and engineering<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students are affiliated primarily with the Department of Systems Innovation in the Graduate School of Engineering or the Department of Earth and Planetary Science in the Graduate School of Science.
